This course taught by IATSE Local 15 leadership aims to empower stewards to effectively represent members, advocate for their rights, and build a strong union by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate workplace issues and lead their colleagues.  What can  job stewards do (or NOT do) to represent members at the work site? What are the differences between “job stewards”, “shop stewards” and “payroll stewards”? This is a thorough and practical course in the role and responsibilities of job stewards tailored to the unusual conditions of the entertainment industry.  Students will learn how to advise members effectively in various types of situations.  Students will become familiar with the basic concepts of just cause, progressive discipline, duty of fair representation and Weingarten rights.

This course will soon be required for Payroll Stewards.

The class will be conducted on Friday, March 20 from 11 am to 4 pm at the New Labor Temple. Attendees who complete the class will have $20 refunded from their registration fee.
