Theatrical Flyrail and Brick Loading Training

This class will focus on the safe operation of a counterweight fly system. Students will learn the basics of how to hang, balance and fly scenery under the direction of an instructor. Emphasis will be on the safe communication between the flyman and the rest of the crew. There will be a discussion of system and component capacities and maintenance. Also, the safe use of rope and common knots used in the theatre will be covered. Students will be taught the proper procedure for loading/unloading counterweights on the arbor.

PPE: Work gloves will be helpful for loading bricks and pulling rope.

Meeting place: Pantages green stage door, located on Broadway Ave next to the main entrance.

Parking: Pay lots are available at: 9th and Market, commerce street garage, and a small lot across the street from the theater on Broadway. Street parking is 2hr max on Broadway.

This a a 4 hour class that will be taught in Tacoma on Tuesday, May 5th at the Pantages Theater from 8 am to 12 pm.
