Dressing 101

Join Patti Emmertt, Delia Mullholland, Juliette Lewis, and Janelle Kimbough for Dressing 101.

The goal of this class is to give people new to the field of Theatrical Wardrobe and Dressing, skills and knowledge needed to be successful on the job. This will be done through examples, discussion, and exercises that will provide each student with a resource of knowledge.

There will be a Hair and Make-up instructor in attendance who will give their input and perspective in a successful quick change. One of the instructors will stand in as an actor and there will be demonstrations presented on how to work with both the Hair department and an actor. Actual theatre costumes will be provided to create realistic situations. The students will be presented and take part in several Wardrobe methods. The instructors will explain and display inventory and show notes. They will demonstrate how to use these notes in the set-up of the Quick-Change basket. The instructor will show the students how to arrange the costumes into a Quick-Change set-up. They will explain how to have a dialog with the Performers about the Quick-Change. By the end of the class, the students will leave with a foundation of methods and approaches needed to successfully organize, plan and perform Quick-Changes.

This class will be held in the conference room at the Seattle Labor Temple on Saturday, October 17th from 10A-4P.
